Here’s What You Need to Know about the MTC CHORUS:
In weekly classes, participants will dive into Newsies material and gain a behind-the-scenes look at the journey from casting to closing in a large production.
At the end of the season, the chorus will have the opportunity to perform as off-stage singers, and will make special stage appearances for the Shrek Jr production.
It’s a comprehensive theatre experience with the excitement of being part of a larger show!
Class Schedule:
When: Thursdays, 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM
Where: Hillcrest Central School
Duration: October 8th until March 25th
Performances (**opt-in/out available):
When: March 23rd - April 30th, 2027
Note: Classes conclude Thursday March 25th. You can choose your own preference for your involvement in the Shrek Jr production from there.
In the Chorus, you are able to select your level of involvement for the show schedule. If you are able to be there 100% of the time, great! However, we know travel can be tricky, as can missing school. Show selection options (details and sign up will take place at a later date).
Team GREEN: 100% of shows (students miss approximately 7 days of school in total).
Team RED: 50% of shows, alternating with team blue.
Team BLUE: 50% of shows, alternating with team red.
We completely understand that committing to 19 shows may not work for everyone. Participation in the performance is entirely optional, but we’re excited to offer this enriching experience nonetheless.

Instalments:
First (Due October 9th): $292.60 + HST = $330.64
Second (Due December 9th): $292.60 + HST = $330.64
Third (Due February 9th): $292.60 + HST = $330.64
Pay In Full:
Total: $790 (10% discount applied) + HST = $892.70

As for the performances in Drayton, the MTC Chorus is set up in the band room, and they sing throughout the show. They'll then join on stage as a fairytale creature in a couple large production numbers!

Classes are mainly led by Matt Chittick, our MTC vocal coach. He's awesome - very kind, fun, friendly and SO good at bringing out the best in the kids! Matt will guide the chorus through learning all of the vocal songs. In addition to Matt's teachings, there are occasional guest teachers. Devan and Paige will be teaching choreography, Sara Graham (The costume designer) will be popping in for costuming workshops, and there’s always additional guests for classes!

The MTC Chorus is for students from 8 - 18, just like our Cast!

Note: Classes conclude Thursday March 25th. You can choose your own preference for your involvement in the production from there:

No problem! The MTC Chorus uses Google Classroom as a practice resource, so any time you miss a class, you won't miss any material! It'll all be in the classroom for you each week.

Getting to Teeswater each week may be tough - because both MTC Cast and MTC Chorus land on Thursday evenings in Teeswater, we're able to coordinate ride shares to spread the driving around! If getting to class each week proves difficult, we are happy to do what we can to arrange a carpool for you!
